The ranking system of Ballistic:
As you all know, we have had a recent influx of new members. This makes it difficult for the GM and officers to keep track of members and their gear levels/requirements. To enable us to keep things fair for all, we have come up with a system which we (the officers) believe will help all of us to simplify the process and give us all something to work towards. Ballistic will be implementing a new system of ratings for all members including officers and alts.
This will start when the toon reaches level 80; it will be given a rank of 1 and will be inelible for raids beyond heroics and 10 naxx. When the player has crafted and heroic gear and enchants/ gems etc, they will be upgraded to a rank 2, which will enable the char to come along to 10/25 naxx, 10 sarth and 10 VOA/VOE. This will hopefully be updated weekly and will be based upon Wowheroes.com which updates directly from armory. Rank 3 will be when the toon has mostly or all epics and is naxx geared and able to pull their weight in raids, and will be eligible for 10 EoE, Sarth 10/25 as well as Naxx 10/25 and VOA/VOE 10/25. Rank 4 will be eligible for 10/25 naxx, 10/25 sarth, 10/25 EoE and beginning ulduar raiding. Ranks 5 and 6 will be very geared and experienced players, who will be in our regular ulduar raids, our progression groups and achievement raids, and will come with an expectation of giving back to the guild in the form of running naxx and other 10 man raids for the lower ranks. The necessary training, research and leadership skills to do this will be assessed and/or explained by the officers.
This system will enable the raid organizers to tailor raids to the needs of the players on a particular night, hopefully reducing fail runs due to unrealistic expectations of certain toons, This is supposed to be a fair system and all members are encouraged to speak to an officer if they feel their rank is unfair or incorrect.
The raid organizers may still choose to bring lower ranked characters to raids, however there will be a different looting rule for them as we all know what its like to lose an epic piece to someone being carried through or making up numbers. Ballistic will not under any circumstances change to a DKP system, there will be no penalty or issues if players are unable to come to raids regularly, as we are a casual guild and wish to stay that way. If you are ineligible for a certain guild raid, feel free to go with a pug or ask an officer if there are any problems with this; however the only guild runs will be approved and run by officers for the time being. This is simply to reduce failed runs which are frustrating for everyone involved. Ultimately we all want to enjoy the game and enjoy raiding, and it is unfair for one person to be expected to run everything and deal with every issue that arises.
In the coming weeks all characters will be assigned a ranking based upon wowheroes and gear, and the officers will be running regular 10 naxx hopefully with all level 80 characters to enable us to get a fair picture of all members’ gear and skill level. We are interested in your feedback on this system, and when members have created a forum account and logged on to the forums there will be a page set up for your comments. We will try to be fair in all aspects, and officers will discuss all ranks before decisions are made.
At the end of the day however this is a guild like any other with a GM and he deserves some respect from all members as he spends countless hours researching and teaching others fights and progression content. Please don’t second guess the officers; they are happy to listen to genuine suggestions. If you have an issue speak to any of the officers, we will try to sort it out. Guild ranks such as Officers etc are player ranks based entirely on membership time and guild loyalty, and will be separate from these character ranks.
